Annunciate le nomination dei MTV Video Music Awards 2016, la manifestazione organizzata da MTV nel corso della quale vengono premiati i migliori videoclip musicali degli ultimi dodici mesi. La serata dedicata alla consegna delle statuette sarà ospitata il prossimo 28 agosto dal Madison Square Garden di New York: la precedente edizione, lo ricordiamo, si era svolta al Microsoft Theater di Los Angeles, in California. Beyoncé e Adele guidano la classifica degli artisti che hanno ricevuto il maggior numero di nomination nelle varie categorie: la signora Carter ha ottenuto ben 11 nomination, mentre la diva pop britannica la segue con 8 nomination. I nomi degli artisti che si contendono il premio più importante, il Video of the Year, sono stati annunciati con un murales apparso proprio a New York (qui la foto): sono Adele, Beyoncé, Drake, Justin Bieber e Kanye West. Lo scorso anno a vincere il premio fu Taylor Swift con “Bad blood”.
I fan potranno far sentire la loro voce a partire da domani, giovedì 28 giugno, votando i propri beniamini sul sito ufficiale dei VMA: si potranno votare le categorie Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Female Video e Best Long Form Video (che è stata istituita appena quest’anno). Le votazioni per il Best New Artist saranno aperte fino all’inizio del pre-show della serata, il prossimo 28 agosto.
